The Active – Inactive Data Conundrum
As TierData continues to change the way enterprise customers think about managing performance and large volumes of data residing within their applications we also see a shift in how customers want to manage their data policies. For years we have worked with the notion of active vs. inactive data within the application and although it is a great starting point it is often an exercise that sparks great debate between the business and IT. Business users normally want all of their data to be “active” and the IT staff generally believes that a much smaller set of data is really “active”. In this post we will take a quick look at how the world of data classification is changing to meet today’s challenges.
